What will I be doing?

As a Technical Researcher, you will work on a wide range of projects, assessments and prototypes. You will research the latest technologies, conduct marketplace analysis, test competing commercial products, and report your findings to both internal and external customers.

You will be required to set up physical and virtual environments within which to perform your research and testing, necessitating a competent understanding of computer networks and operating systems. You will also be required to process large data sets (both open-source and captured as part of your research).

These will typically be standalone pieces of work within time-boxed periods, looking to produce technical artefacts and white-papers. Typically, our customers might expect weekly progress updates before the presentation of the finished article. Your time at our Gloucester development hub will be dictated by the needs of your particular task, but we would expect this hybrid role to average out at two days on site per week.

What experience and aptitudes will I need?

This role would be ideal for someone with a Master s degree or PhD who is looking to make a move into industry, particularly if you wish to use your technical research skills to pursue a pathway towards related work in Cyber Research or Data Science.

Must have:

Ability to selfmanage a rapid turnaround of tasks

Experience of networking, setting up of research infrastructure, OS administration

Demonstrable ability to learn new technologies and concepts

Strong STEM background

Consummate report writing skills

Nice to have:

Interest in cyber security

Scripting, prototyping, commandline experience

Interest in data science/machine learning

Experience of involvement in bidwriting and white-papers

Working with opensource datasets
