We are seeking a Windows System Engineer with an interest in developing a specialism in the areas of Configuration Management/Discovery and Monitoring. The candidate should have a solid background in Windows Server operating systems and the components that underpin an enterprise size Windows environment (e.g. Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy etc). They should also have a good understanding of Networking components and topology.
The role will be to support various applications in the CMDB and Monitoring space. Specific application training (mixture of on the job and formal) will be provided however the candidate will also be expected to be an enthusiastic self-learner and be pro-active in the development of their knowledge.
Job Description
- To be an integral member of the team supporting the following applications:
- SCOM
- Aternity
- Dynatrace
- Flexera
- uCMDB
- Undertake day to day support activities for the applications you are responsible for. For example:
- Daily checks
- Regular maintenance
- Application patching
- Certificate updates
- Incident resolution
- Fulfil customer requests related to the applications you are responsible for. Examples could include:
- Production of reports
- Amending monitoring of existing systems
- Creating monitoring for new systems
- Configuration of CMDB system to discover new CIs
Essential Skills
- Solid background in Windows Server operating systems
- Knowledge of the following Window components:
- Active Directory
- Group Policy
- DNS
- DHCP
- Windows Firewall
- IIS
- Certificates
- Basic knowledge of Networking components
- Enthusiastic about developing knowledge and learning best practices in the Configuration Management and Monitoring space
- Proven ability to self teach and an ability to get up-to-speed in a short space of time
