We’re looking for a service designer to join our growing multi-disciplinary Design team. In this role, you’ll define and enhance journeys and value propositions for our business customers, who range from sole traders to major corporations.

As part of the Business & Commercial Banking Design team, you’ll design crucial end-to-end services that enable our customers to thrive; supporting the recovery of British businesses affected by the pandemic. With significant investment being made to transform the organisation over the next 3 years, this is an incredible chance to create a huge impact.

We need someone who can work creatively with product owners, business analysts, internal customers and fellow designers to take propositions from concept to reality.

In doing so, you’ll shape the way we build relationships with business customers, while supporting them with the best products, tools and services to meet their needs.

Service Designers often have diverse backgrounds, but what unites them is the ability to be empathetic, strategic and collaborative; to communicate visually and engage through storytelling; and to facilitate, coach and build capability in others.

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • Researching and documenting how services and experiences are currently delivered, and prototyping and testing how they might work in future.

  • Facilitating workshops and discussions, ensuring that the business context, needs and risks are well understood and that key decisions are well-informed.

  • Planning, mobilising and conducting qualitative and quantitative research activities to ensure we’re led by colleague, customer and market insight when creating or enhancing our propositions and services.

  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team of designers, product owners and engineers.

  • Communicating with colleagues to balance expectations and incorporate multiple perspectives in the definition of solutions.

  • Working effectively and confidently to help uncover priorities, visualise outcomes and define scope.

  • Helping others to make good design decisions, bringing the user perspective to the forefront and challenging the validity of constraints.

  • Being an active member of the design community to share knowledge, create ideas, and embed principles of design across a diverse product range, service and customer journeys.

Previous experience in utilising different research and design methods will be required. And any familiarity with commercial or business banking would be highly desirable.
