THE PRODUCT.

Modo is Foundry’s Digital Content Creation tool incorporating polygon and subdivision surface modelling, sculpting, 3D painting, animation and rendering and is used by artists and designers in the film, game, product design and architectural industries among many others.

THE ROLE.

We are looking for a UK based C++ Senior Software Engineer to join the existing Modo development team.

They will be helping design and implement new features to better enable our clients workflows.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in C++ and C and have the ability to understand and work on large existing codebases.

They should have experience of working with 3D graphics, rendering, geometry processing and 3D maths. Knowledge of Qt and QML would be beneficial.

They should be familiar with multiple OS’s and understand modern software engineering practices.

Working in a scrum team and reporting to your team’s Lead Engineer, your daily work will involve the design, implementation, documentation and testing of C and C++ code.

You will liaise with the team’s Lead Engineer and other Modo engineers, QA Engineers, Product Designers and the team Architect as necessary to ensure that the code meets the requirements of the customer and is delivered in a timely fashion.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Responsible for the timely delivery of software to functional and quality requirements.
  • Document your work clearly and concisely in the source code.
  • Contribute to project planning by providing effort estimates for the team’s future work.
  • Peer review code changes.
  • Assist QA in testing plan and defect verification.
  • Improve the quality and stability of the product with maintenance bug fixes.
  • Assist our Customer Support team with investigations and suggestions related to issues reported by users.
  • Bachelor-level degree in Computer Science or industry experience (5+ years) of developing 3D applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of (C/C++) programming language, including the latest standards (C+ and later).
  • Experience with real-time rendering, geometry processing and 3D maths.
  • Developed, debugged, delivered and deployed multi-threaded software to distributed customers.
  • Knowledge of development tools and processes as part of a team.
  • Experience of cross-OS development including OSX, Windows and Linux.
  • Good communication skills, teamwork skill, well organised, and good time management.
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with git, gitlab, conan and CMake.
  • Good track record of problem solving.

  • Working knowledge of Python 3 and scripting languages.
  • GPU API experience, including OpenGL, Vulkan.
  • Knowledge of offline rendering.
