Location: This is a remote, home-based role but will require the successful candidate to cover and travel throughout the southern region of the UK.

You must be a car owner, hold a current and full driving licence and have access to the car during working hours.

About the role

This post, within the Centre Management team, is designed to promote effective quality assurance within Pearson vocational centres. The Senior Quality Assurance Manager will provide a significant resource to enable Pearson to maintain regulatory requirements and the integrity of centre assessment, delivery and quality assurance.

The post is home-based, in the southern region of the UK, working directly with centres to support them in addressing centre quality issues, particularly those which cross a number of sectors and where centres have been identified as high risk. Some duties will require you to visit company headquarters and other locations.

You will report into the Head of Centre Management and also work closely with the Quality Standards, Investigations and Vocational Assessment teams to ensure that we capture centre wide issues and identify solutions for the quality issues they are experiencing.

This will include:

  • Resolving quality issues that span a number of centres.

  • Supporting resolution and investigation of malpractice cases.

  • Addressing quality issues within high risk centres that are non sector specific eg resolving late registration, lack of resources, poor quality delivery.

  • Addressing quality issues arising from Lead Standard Verifiers and Academic Management and Review.

You will liaise with team members to ensure that centre management is ongoing during periods of leave and absence and you will liaise with other Pearson teams to ensure an integrated approach.

Key accountabilities:

Maintenance of Quality Standards

The primary function of this role is to help maintain the integrity of Pearson vocational qualifications through the provision of high quality guidance to centres across a wide range of technical, professional and operational issues, including:

  • Internal and external quality assurance processes.

  • Awarding organisation and regulatory requirements.

  • Identifying Assessment malpractice and poor practice.

  • Compliance, irregularities and sanction issues at centre level.

  • Other complex delivery and quality assurance issues.

Work with centres to ensure and maintain the highest standards of quality, through the monitoring of centre provision and processes relating to vocational programmes, by:

  • Assisting centres to understand quality assurance and non-compliance issues at a centre level.

  • Supporting centres with quality issue resolution.

  • Assuring the safety of learner achievement and certification.

  • Management of centre-wide breaches in assessment and quality process.

Maintain Accurate and Auditable Records

The provision of any quality system is built on accurate records and documentation. Due to the nature of the work relating to this role, such records must also be current and auditable.

  • Ensure that auditable records are maintained at all times.

  • Provide a regular report of activity containing specified data.

  • Produce data in specified formats.

  • Support and Deliver Corporate Projects and Initiatives.

Occasionally there will be the need to provide short-term or long-term leadership or support for a specialist function, project or initiative as required and not contained within the detail of this job description. You will be expected to engage fully as directed meet specified deliverables within agreed time scales as specified.

Provide Leadership and Support

Post holders will be professionals who have delivered and assessed vocational programmes in an educational environment. As such you will be expected to provide professional advice and support to the business, assessment associates and customers.

Key Challenges:

The post will require a high level of professionalism and integrity to assure the ongoing standard of vocational centre quality assurance. You will ensure compliance of centre activity, through developing and monitoring plans, making judgements and providing constructive feedback in a positive way. Much of this work will be delivered within agreed time scales. The post will be outcomes driven and requires a high level of personal management and discipline to work in a rapidly changing educational environment.

Some out of office hours and weekend working will be required, as will overnight stays and during peak times of activity there will be restrictions on leave.
