We are excited to be recruiting an experienced Senior Policy and Communications Officer to join our External Affairs department. You’ll work with your team to deliver the goals set out in Join the Club, our ambitious strategy for 2.
The successful candidate will deliver and develop our policy priorities. They will identify opportunities to engage in policy discussions, build relationships with sector stakeholders and education networks, identify conference speaking opportunities and write policy briefings. They will also lead on written submissions to government or sector consultations, working closely with senior members of the charity.
They will also be responsible for proactively building relationships with the press, and for responding to press and media enquiries. They will identify opportunities to raise awareness of the university access gap and create platforms for the young people we support to share their stories. The successful candidate will also support the Head of Communications and Marketing with charity publications, staff training on tone of voice and style and commissioning design and photography.

Role Specific Knowledge and Skills
Essential – Experience in a policy or public affairs role
Essential – Experience of working with press or media
Essential – Experience of creating engaging communications content for a variety of audiences
Essential – Excellent written and verbal communication
Desirable – Experience of working in the education sector
Desirable – Experience of briefing work to a designer
Desirable – Project management experience
