Job Details:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our client s business for the position of Quality Manager.

You will be responsible for maintaining all quality standards within the company, working closely with a Team of QA Engineers.

Our client is a manufacturer and distributor of industrial fasteners. They supply all types of standard industrial fasteners – setscrews, bolts, nuts, washers, self-tapping screws, woodscrews etc. – in a variety of materials including steel, stainless steel, brass and nylon.

They also produce a range of precision machined parts to bespoke customer drawings, supplying all ranges of industry form electrical infrastructure, medical and petrochemical.

They have been located in Leeds since 1930 on the same ever-expanding site.

They are now looking for a Quality Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of the Quality Department.

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Implement, develop, and improve the quality management process.
  • Supervise a team of quality inspectors ensuring all work is carried out to both in-house and customer specification.
  • Identify any non-conformances and implement effective changes, liaising with department Team Leaders, setters, and operators.
  • Conduct and arrange both internal and external audits ensuring all corresponding documentation is completed to a high standard.
  • Manage and run and effective calibration system
  • Lead quality projects based on Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques- kaizen, SMED, 5S etc providing reports and updating senior management, (Independent Lean principal training can be offered to the right candidate).
  • Inspect parts both manufactured and purchased, conducting first article inspection reports when requested by customers.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding quality issues and, if requested and necessary, providing in-depth 8D, CAR and preventative action reports.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a thorough understanding of Quality Management Systems in accordance with ISO9001
  • Have a proven track record of working within a busy quality department
  • Have experience using a range of Measuring equipment (preferred but not essential)
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings


  • A background and qualifications within an engineering background is preferable
  • A proven track record of quality management at a senior level within a complex manufacturing environment – with an emphasis on the delivery of quality improvements
