Our Biostatistics & Programming department are passionate about being data and technically agile, and driving enhanced value for our clients and patients. Determined to improve patient health, we help PPD provide industry-leading statistical, programming and clinical pharmacology contributions through global delivery, consistent quality adherence and scientific insight.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Programmer Analyst II to join the FSP pillar of our Biostatistics & Programming department in EMEA, working from one of our offices in the UK – Cambridge, Winchester or Glasgow, or home based across UK/Europe.

As a Programmer Analyst II within FSP, you will work directly with the client as part of their team, performing programming activities for the statistical and computational considerations of research projects. You will work on the study team under the direction of the Lead Programmer and assume lead programmer responsibilities on select projects.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:

Creating, executing, maintaining, and validating programs that transfer data across multiple data management systems or operating systems.
Combining data from a variety of sources and structures
Generating and storing summary data from a variety of sources
Generating reports or combining multiple databases and validating programs that generate listings, tables and figures using SAS and standard tools and processes.
Prepare and analyze clinical trial patient datasets
Act as programming lead on studies of simple to moderate complexity
Provide mentorship to junior team members.

Qualifications:

To be considered for the role you should have the following qualifications and experience:

Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Biostatistics, Statistics, Mathematics or related field
2+ years of experience working in Biostatistics (previous CRO experience is highly desirable)
Solid SAS programming experience – MIN 1-2 years
Understanding of one or more additional programming languages is a plus

Strong understanding of relational data base structure and complex data systems
Any project management or lead experience is desirable
Capable of providing mentorship and promoting teamwork in a multi-disciplinary team setting
Fluency in English is essential.
