The Team

Service Central and Technical Services (SC&TS) are part of CDIO s Enterprise Platform Services team. We are accountable for the end-to-end service for HMRC s IT Systems & Services and our focus is on ensuring a consistent and excellent Customer Experience.

We work closely with hardworking, upbeat people who grow with the challenge of delivering world class Services on behalf of the UK Taxpayer, HMRC and their partners.

As part of SC&TS, the main functions of the NPS (National PAYE System) Batch and Event Team are the scheduling, processing, monitoring and recording of actions on the NPS System and the support of the on-line NIRS2 (National Insurance Recording System) Service.

We act as first & second line support for problem resolution and escalation and operate on a rotating shift rota basis from 07:00 to 19:00 and from 19:00 to 07:00 seven days per week.

The Role:

We want you to help us to provide an impeccable Technical NPS Batch Support Service. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will be able to utilise your interpersonal skills and “can do” approach to deliver system support expectations and high-quality results.

Responsibilities include:

You will be responsible for:

Understanding of the broad NPS service, its infrastructure, the supplier (Accenture) relationships and how your Batch Analyst role supports this.

The day-to-day NPS Batch operational support activities including batch monitoring, scheduling and execution of all batch jobs. This will be achieved utilising available workload scheduling tools and through comprehensive in-house training, mentoring and coaching.

Acting as first and second line support for problem resolution and escalations, ensuring that all problems are resolved within the appropriate service levels.

Collaborating with and, where possible, mentoring of team colleagues to improve their learning and understanding.

Liaison with Service Delivery Partners and wider support teams.

With guidance, build knowledge and experience over extended time period be able to demonstrate the behaviours required as an NPS Deputy Team Leader.

In addition, the candidate will display a professional attitude, attention to detail, security awareness and will be able to work to a schedule, ensuring that all deadlines are achieved without compromising quality.

Note: Security Clearance (Security Check (SC)) is a key requirement of the role and will be applied for on successful application and is condition of remaining in post.

Requirements

Essential criteria

Understanding how to facilitate Level 1 support initial diagnostic fault finding when encountering process failure and, if unsuccessful, escalate to NPS Team Leader or Deputy Team Leader level.

Analytical skills and a methodical approach to problem solving with attention to detail.

Collaborative team worker.

Ability and drive to identify, suggest and support service improvements as part of a Continual Improvement Environment approach.

Desirable criteria

Ideally you will also have knowledge and understanding of

A working knowledge of the following software packages would be advantageous: Unix, Linux, Tivoli WS maestro 8.5+, Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, Service Central (ServiceNow) and SharePoint but all these skills can be acquired through corporate and in-house training.

Interpersonal skills.

Ability to adapt communications to the audience.

Ability to work in high pressure environment and, with commensurate training, alone.

Selection Process

Additional Information

This is a permanent full-time office-based role. The successful candidate will work a four-week rotating shift pattern:

Wk1 19:00 – 07:00 Mon/Tues – Fri/Sat/Sun – (night shift)

Wk2 19:00 – 07:00 Wed/Thurs (night shift)

Wk3 07:00 – 19:00 Mon/Tues – Fri/Sat/Sun – (day shift)

Wk4 07:00 – 19:00 Wed/Thurs (day shift)

This position attracts a shift allowance at 15
