Job Details:

Can you enjoy coding and automating processes? Can you empower the business with your data expertise? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments? If yes, we may have the role for you!

As Consumer Lending Lead MI Analyst you will work closely with the rest of the Consumer Finance Division as well as the Data team on consumer lending products. In addition, the reports and dashboards you create will be consumed by colleagues across Metro Bank – all the way up to the Executive Committee.

Depending on the team, most of our roles offer flexible working, we are currently working in a hybrid environment.

So what would you be doing?…

MI and Automation

• Develop automated dashboards and reporting to enable stakeholders to self-service information on commercial performance and test/campaign outcomes

• Own the delivery of regular MI for circulation to senior stakeholders and committees to inform the business performance and future strategy

• Develop monitoring framework together with stakeholders, and build MI to meet compliance and regulatory requirements as well as business needs

• Develop automated processes that identify anomalous business performance

•Be aware of business risks relevant to consumer finance and pro-actively flag/escalate issues to manager in a timely manner

Data Improvements

• Work collaboratively with colleagues in the wider business (such as product managers and BI developers) to deliver structural improvements to our data warehouse, and represent the department in discussions about proposed changes to data structure and storage

• Identify areas of improvement in the data warehouse and monitor the data quality of the regularly used databases to ensure the reliability of the reports and analysis

Insight Analysis

•Develop a solid understanding of Metro Bank s propositions and journeys that customers take from first awareness to in-life management, to account closure, and how these journeys translate into back-end data elements

•Develop a strong understanding of products, regulatory practices and procedures, service standards, processing and systems relating to consumer finance

•Take the opportunity to use our data to identify areas for improvement in business processes and lead them to completion

Any other reasonable ad-hoc duties and responsibilities as required

You need to be this kind of person

• Passionate about providing unparalleled levels of service and convenience for customers

• Able to work and learn quickly in a fast-paced, fun and dynamic environment

• Prepared to stick at something – we get nervous if someone has jumped from job to job as we want people who are prepared to learn and grow

• Care about doing a great job and exceeding expectations with the quality of what you do

And… we are a bank so risk is a part of everything we do. We love people who take responsibility, do the right thing for customers, colleagues and Metro Bank and have the courage to call out any concerns.

We always support colleagues to develop their skills. But to be successful in this job you really do need to already be able to do most of these wonderful things…

•You should be extremely fluent with SQL to retrieve information for analysis (in SSMS and Snowflake environments), at a level to develop other colleagues technique and understanding

•You should have experience in measuring data quality of databases and building controls to maintain them

•It would be a plus if you had experience in building reports for lending products, and a good understanding of the key metrics and how lending products work

•The ideal candidate will have some prior experience using another programming language (e.g. SAS, R or Python) and a desire to work with code on a daily basis

•You should be familiar with data visualisation software, ideally PowerBI

•You should have advanced Excel skills (eg. Pivot table, Xlookup, macros) and experience linking Excel to data warehouse tables

•It would be great if you have experience of CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce), and of Google Analytics

Important Footnote: Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box. We also know that normal office hours aren t always doable, and while we can t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked. So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren t sure if you are 100% there yet why not give it a whirl? Please note that sometimes we may close a job earlier for applications if we are inundated with amazing candidates.. Good luck!
