These roles are based at various schools and music centres in Surrey. The starting salary for is £28,469 to £29,131 per annum (pro-rata for part-time), dependent upon experience, inclusive of holiday pay.

Surrey Arts are currently looking for Teachers with skills and availability to teach the following:

  • Piano Teacher – 1-2 days (6-12 hours) in Redhill and Reigate area.
  • Cello Teacher – 1-2 days (6-12 hours) in Redhill and Reigate area. Stringbabies / early years experience would be an advantage or a willingness to be trained in this area
  • Upper Strings Teacher – 2 days (12 hours) Epsom, Addlestone, Staines, Woking. Teaching includes a Saturday morning at the Staines music centre including leading/supporting the string ensembles. Ability to teach whole class violin would be an advantage or a willingness to be trained in this area.
  • Piano Teacher(s) – 3+ days (18+ hours), Woking and Guildford. Teaching includes: 9.00-15.00 on a Saturday, 15.30-19.30 on a Tuesday including adult keyboard group and an additional after school slot 15.30-19.30. There are also many daytime teaching slots in local schools. Availability to be discussed at interview with the right candidate.
  • Woodwind Teacher – 1-2 days (6-12 hours). Farnham and Haslemere.

About The Role

We are looking for motivated and committed music leaders to join our thriving team of teaching staff. You will be helping to deliver high quality and innovative music education to children and adults at various schools and venues around the county through weekly instrumental and vocal tuition. You will teach both online and face-to-face and be part of a forward-looking team developing innovative and student-centred learning opportunities.

Surrey Arts delivers a number of enrichment activities such as holiday courses, workshops, and events which staff help support and deliver.

In this role you will be supported by a team of Administrators who will organise your schedule and timetables, and will be in regular contact with parents, schools, and yourselves to ensure the services delivered meet our high expectations.

We deliver 33 weeks of regular lessons within the school academic year plus a range of additional activities and professional training for staff. Staff are expected to be available during the school academic terms and there are opportunities for additional work during the holiday periods.

Our hourly rate of pay ranges from £26.54 to £27.62 per hour for individual/group lessons. Salary is pro-rata to hours worked. We are also looking for teachers who can work during and after school hours including Saturdays. Tutors are supported by a dedicated music administration team and line manager.

About You

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Hold a recognised music diploma, degree, or who can demonstrate an equivalent level of achievement in their own field of practice
  • Possess specialist musical knowledge related to their instrument or field of practice, and can perform or create music to a high standard
  • Are reflective practitioners with a passion for continued learning and development
  • Can make positive relationships with children, young people, and the wider Surrey Arts team
  • Have experience of working with children from a range of social backgrounds
  • Are aware of current initiatives in the UK music education system
