Job Title: Graduate Software System Technician
Job location: London (North West and South)
Pay Rate: 19.17 ( 40,000) – Raising to 27.48 after 6 months ( 57,356)
Shifts: 24/7 Operation therefore you MUST be flexible (Days, Nights, Weekends)
Hours per week: 42 Average
Length: Temporary to Permanent

Position Summary:
Shorterm are currently looking for driven individuals who want to develop their career in Heavy Engineering. We are looking for people who have Software Engineering qualifications / experience who wish to diversify into the Electrical and Mechanical side of Engineering. The position will involve interrogating and fixing in depth Engineering Systems (Software, Electrical, Mechanical) on large state of the art vehicles. These vehicles work on Software data / systems which drives automation within the electrical and mechanical systems, meaning faults can occur initially in software or on the electrical / mechanical systems.

Once trained you will be responsible for:

Providing high level technical support to the operator.
Provide systems engineering advice for the vehicle as a whole and for the key vehicle systems.
Optimisation of the maintenance on vehicles as per defined balanced examination schedules.
Helping customer with detailed fault finding and diagnostics.
Mechanical fault finding.
Heavy mechanical component replacements.
Electrical point to point testing and fault finding.
Monitoring of warranty issues and liaising with supplier technical teams.
Run laptop diagnostics software to identify faults with various systems i.e. hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, train management systems & on board computers.
System software updates as required

Person profile:
You will be a highly self-motivated individual, willing to learning new skills and a new industry.
Able to understand and interrogate software.
Able to pick up and learn new practical hands-on skills.
Able to use a basic set of hand tools.
Must have high level computer literacy.
Basic understanding of schematics.
Must be an analytical thinker.
Able to follow instruction and detailed processes.

Person profile:

Minimum qualification required – NVQ Level 3 in a Software or Electrical discipline
