Overview

Animal Equality is an international organisation working with society, governments and companies to end cruelty to farmed animals. Animal Equality has offices in the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil and India.

The Front-End Programmer will be responsible for maintaining and developing Animal Equality s websites and functionalities globally. With a proven track record of understanding web development processes from inception to deployment, the successful appointee will play a critical role in creating new user-facing features, building reusable codes, optimising page loading, and will improve and implement responsive and effective design.

With creative flair, the Front-End Programmer will handle technically challenging and complex user-facing projects and products, demonstrating how thoughtful and innovative design can increase engagement and awareness.

General Responsibilities:

Implement visual elements that users interact with in web applications.
Translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code, bridging the gap between
graphical design and technical implementation.
Optimise application for maximum speed and scalability.

Position Requirements:

A minimum of four years of related experience.
Familiarity with design tools and processes.
Extensive knowledge of front-end technologies, such as HTML5, CSS (bootstrap-like) and JavaScript, and expertise in libraries and frameworks such as Backbone, Angular, React, Vue or similar. Javascript and CSS animation experience is a plus.
Experience with advanced configuration, maintenance and improvement of CSS/JS, processing, compilation and packaging tools (webpack, rollup etc).
Knowledge of PHP.
Experience working and interacting with WordPress CMS and programming best practices.
Experience with Git version control management.
Ability to write readable and elegant programs conforming with existing coding guidelines.
Proactive and decisive.
Ability to work with a variety of people globally on various issues.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
High degree of professional ethics and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Professional appearance.
Actively participate in the organisation s culture of philanthropy.
Commitment to the objectives of the organisation.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary band £31,000-£35,000, depending on experience. This is a remote working opportunity (UK-based candidates only), willing and able to travel once per month to London.

The interview process comprises a multiple-stage interview and Skills Test. The appointment process will run throughout September 2022, with a view to Animal Equality UK making an offer to the successful candidate in October 2022.
