This is a unique opportunity to become a member of our Customer Operations Team. Developing skills in engineering, you will work alongside your business peers to support our team interfacing with our customers, our operational colleagues and the engineering functions you will quickly make your mark as an engineer of the future.
Over the 24-month programme, you ll develop leadership skills, gain technical exposure and understanding, and experience professional development, through a combination of theoretical learning and on the job experience. You ll study towards achieving a HNC in Mechanical Engineering HNC in mechanical, electrical or instrumentation depending on the discipline.
You ll be supported every step of the way by a dedicated programme manager, business mentor and line manager. Our community of trainees also provide the perfect support network, pulling from their personal experience they ll provide guidance and assistance and you ll inspire each other from the very start.
The East Midlands Customer operations family are responsible for managing the delivery of Emergency, Repair and Household Connections workloads within a geographically bound Area (EM). Operating the Area in an effective and efficient manner to deliver against the network s strategic ambitions and Regulatory outputs. We ensure public safety on behalf of Cadent in accordance with the Gas Safety Management Regulations, through provision of 24/7 emergency service to respond to gas emergencies and incidents on the gas network. Balancing reactive workload with planned or customer appointed work in line with any network plans and to the satisfaction of our Cadent customers. During this training programme you will be mentored in leading an effective and highly motivated workforce, driving performance, delivering year-on-year cost efficiencies and improvements in productivity and resource utilisation whilst maintaining world-class operational excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Our Engineering Programme provides a unique opportunity to become a member of the Cadent Repair Team, supervising the repair and maintenance of our gas distribution network. Developing skills in engineering, you will work alongside your business peers and being an enthusiastic applicant who is keen to learn and support our team interfacing with customers, our strategic partners and the engineering functions you will quickly make your mark as an engineer of the future.
This is a comprehensive 2-year programme working in one of Cadent s distribution networks within the UK that alongside extensive training, also involves;
- Safely working with supervisors and teams on site to deliver engineering projects
- Delivering network improvements to deliver customer excellence
- Understanding of the regulatory and contractual environment we operate in

- A valid UK driving licence
- GCSE English Language at minimum Grade C / 4 (or equivalent)
- GCSE Maths at minimum Grade B / 6 (or equivalent)
Plus, one of the below;
- 2 A Levels minimum Grade C (1 must be in either Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or Technology)
- BTEC Level 3 in an Engineering discipline – Grade Pass, Merit or Distinction
- HNC/HND in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering – Grade Pass, Merit or Distinction
- A Degree in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or Technology discipline – Minimum Grade 2:2
