Salary & Benefits: £52,912 – £69,447 base salary, plus annual personal bonus, up to 15% employer pension contribution, 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays. We also offer flexible working hours, agile working practices and regular home working.

About the role:
Exciting opportunities have arisen to join the new GI, within the Insurance, Pensions & Investments Business Unit. You’ll be joining as a Data Engineer, right at the beginning of our journey and working alongside a cross-functional team, collaborating closely with the business, product owners and other engineering teams.
You’ll develop high quality, reusable streaming and batch data pipelines at scale, to ingest and curate data into re-useable data products.
You’ll help shape our architecture by using the most appropriate modern toolsets available to LBG.
You’ll also work with our technology partners to ensure that what you build is sustainable and easily supported.
You’ll need to show a real passion for developing new solutions and translating data into business insights – role-modelling Data Engineering as it should be in the new digital age.
Essential skills & experience:
We want to grow our team of data engineers who build pipelines in distributed environments. So we’d be looking for you to have experience in some of the following areas:
An understanding of big data and/ or data warehousing architecture, with hands on experience of building batch or real-time data pipelines
Knowledge of enterprise data modelling techniques such as de-normalised views, star schemas, OLAP cubes etc.
Knowledge and experience in the following technical skills: Core Java version 11, advanced SQL and python.
Working knowledge on any public cloud, preferably Google Cloud Platform (including components such as GCS buckets, BigQuery, PubSub, Dataflow or equivalents).
Experience in DevOps including Containerisation, Kubernetes, Helm or any other packaging tool, and Jenkins.
Desirable skills & experience
Experience in Agile Methodology.
Knowledge and understanding of Insurance policy/ claims data will be extremely helpful.
