Scruffy Dog Productions Limited is a leading global experience company with a creative production & construction facility based in the UK, with international teams in London, Barcelona, Shanghai & Dubai.
We are currently looking for Creative Project Managers to join our team in central UK (Birmingham). This position within the company requires proven experience in the Events & Entertainment industry combined with an excellent ability in both technical and scenic disciplines.
Our Project Management team is responsible for overseeing a wide variety of projects from conception to completion.
Scruffy Dog Productions Project Managers are required to have creative sector background and knowledge of the relevant production methods utilised to help deliver a project from start to finish and to a high-quality standard.
The Project Manager should be able to demonstrate effective management of scope, schedule and budget alongside an understanding of the creative processes and practices undertaken throughout the project.
The Project Manager will be able to deal with all Project related tasks and manage project delivery teams.
Strong emphasis on the creative industry Projects and deliverables, with our clients coming to us to solve complex designs and deliver stunning products.
As the Client face of Scruffy Dog Productions, the Project Manager will ensure that best practice processes and learnings are applied to all projects, ensuring exemplary client management techniques are deployed to each Project.
Our Project Managers are the responsible person for the financial control on the assigned project, ensuring delivery of all aspects of the project are within the agreed timeframe and budget. The target GP for the project is the managed by the Project manager.
Key areas of responsibilities – Project Specific Duties:
Successful delivery of Project Scope, Schedule and Budget.
Project Administration – creating and aligning the pretender documentation and maintaining the information flow through to Project closure.
Responsibility for the Project financial performance, budget, forecasting /cost to completion, cashflow and invoicing.
Active Project management of Project change and delay.
Project Program, – creating the Project program, ensuring all milestones are achievable and communicated to internal and external stakeholders.
Client Management – ensure the client vision is considered throughout the project lifestyle. Sustain client and customer satisfaction, exceeding expectations on a regular basis.
Management of internal and external communication of Project status and progress.
Management of the final deliverables, ensuring Scruffy Dog Productions quality is managed and recorded throughout the delivery phase.
Project risk management – Creating Risk registers, Project specific Health & Safety documentation and ensuring compliance with the Scruffy Dog Productions, and client Health & Safety requirements.
Co-ordination of manufacturing, engineering, operational and support disciplines to ensure project success. Co-ordination of the documentation to ensure ISO compliance is maintained for both Scruffy Dog Productions and client / customer requirements
Assisting the commercial team in drawing up tender and quotation documentation. Working with the Scruffy Dog Productions sales and estimating documentation, ensuring contingencies and established pricing formats are utilised.
Co-ordination, contracting and management of sub-contractors, freelance operatives and co-vendors- utilised within a project.
Management of ‘on-site’ delivery- to the venue, client and freelance operatives and the ability to resolve challenges, conflicts or disputes within a Project.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Essential:
You must be flexible and versatile, able to work with imagination and ingenuity.
You need to be creative and have problem-solving skills, and must be open to new ideas, and to learn new skills and techniques.
The ability to work to internal and external deadlines, under your own initiative, is essential.
Good interpersonal and communication skills. Being a Project leader, you will work with teams, be a team player and work closely with others.
Having an eye for detail and accuracy. Ensuring the final product meets and look to exceed the client’s expectations.
Being in the Creative / Live events industries, a knowledge of the relevant health and safety legislation and procedures is vital to the role.
Scruffy Dog Production projects are deliverable worldwide, and it will be a requirement to work abroad for short/medium durations.
High level of verbal and written communication skills.
A helpful, positive and flexible approach.
Energetic and resilient.
Computer Literate, Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word Powerpoint & Project
Experience with AutoCAD & Solid Works software/production methods
Other desirable skills:
Proven large Project experience
Theme Park/ Live Event/Theatre/ Film, Cruise Ship fit-out experience
Mechanical / Electrical engineering principles.
A knowledge of creative industry standard materials and techniques, these can include mould making, laminating, scenic treatments, sculpting, carpentry, CNC, stage carpentry, prop making, rigging, lighting, animatronics, automation, stage engineering.
Practical ability to build things, break things, make things, repair things, re-purpose things and invent things.
4+ years’ experience in entertainment / creative industries.
Degree desired but not essential:
Bachelor’s Degree in project management, Engineering, Technical Theatre or equivalent field.
Previous experience in a similar position within the creative industries sector.
