Reporting into the Managing Director we are looking to appoint, on behalf of our market-leading client, a transformative & visionary Commercial Director to lead the commercial arm of this organisation across the UK and Ireland.

With a bold new approach, the company are undertaking a revised commercial strategy focusing on new client development coupled with an increased focus on account management; the successful candidate will lead this strategy and ensure maximum impact is made across all facets of the commercial functions.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering impressive sales growth in a B2B environment, along with reshaping and realigning a commercial function that is ideally placed for long-term success. This person will be a dynamic leader, with a body of work that has demonstrated an ability to not only lead, but to drive change and commercial growth.

The Role:

  • Strategic Planning: To develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to drive commercial objectives.
  • Sales Management: To lead, mentor, and manage the commercial sales team, driving high performance and surpassing sales targets.
  • Revenue Growth: To spearhead revenue increase through new business development, account expansion, and sales process optimization.
  • Market Analysis: To conduct thorough market research to identify opportunities, monitor competitor activity, and tailor strategies accordingly.
  • Client Relations: To cultivate and sustain strong client relationships to ensure elevated levels of satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Budget Management: To strategize and oversee the commercial sales budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
  • Performance Metrics: To establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators for the sales team.
  • Collaboration: To collaborate closely with cross-functional departments to align and support sales initiatives.
  • Sales Training: To develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and competencies of the commercial team.
  • Negotiation and Closing: To lead high-level negotiations and seal deals with major clients and partners.
  • Compliance: To ensure all sales activities adhere to industry regulations and company policies.

The Person:

  • Degree educated, or equivalent, within a science based subject, preferably with a Masters/MBA
  • Proven commercial experience within a scientific, life sciences or analytical services company, please note this is a prerequisite
  • Exceptionally strong leadership and team management capabilities with the abilities to structure a team to best deliver optimal results
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal proficiencies.
  • Proven track record of meeting and surpassing sales targets.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical acumen.
  • Expertise in CRM software and sales analytics tools.
  • Proficient negotiation and closing skills.
  • Profound understanding of industry dynamics and market intricacies.
  • Results-driven with the desire to deliver consistently
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Robust problem-solving proficiencies.
  • High levels of integrity and professionalism.
