How To Stay Motivated In Your Job Search – Tips & Tricks

Finding a job can be stressful, time-consuming, frustrating but yet hopefully rewarding! So, for this reason, it’s important to stay motivated and confident that you will find the right role for you.

Follow our tips and tricks for job search motivational success.

Create a plan

For us, to-do lists always work best. This way you can see everything right in front of you and the order in which you need to do it. If you need to update your CV or create a cover letter, writing these things down will make you feel that little bit more motivated when you’ve completed the task and get to cross it off your list! It will also help you keep up to date with any pending job application deadlines and keep you organised so nothing important is missed.

Take time out

If you are already at work, take a couple of days off or even just an afternoon to help you concentrate fully on your job search. This is important because sometimes trying to motivate yourself after a full day at work to search for a new job can be difficult. On the occasion that you are unemployed and searching for a job, create a schedule that will help you make the most out of each day. For example, dedicate every weekday morning to searching and applying for potential roles. Spreading it out like this and doing it little and often will seem less daunting and hopefully help you achieve more.

Set goals

Set goals and be sure of what you want to achieve. An uncertain job search is pretty pointless. You’ll end up applying for jobs that you’re not really sure you want or you’re right for. Whereas if you know exactly what type of role you wish to secure, it will allow you to remain focused. You can achieve this by writing down your goals, for the day, week or month. To give you a clear timescale and for you to be able to motivate yourself to achieve each job-related goal.

Don’t be afraid of disappointment

Setting your heart on one specific job and then not getting it can be incredibly disappointing and demotivating. But this is a part of life and feeling disappointment at some stage in your career is only natural. So be prepared for it and have a backup plan. Applying for more than one job at a time will help give you the assurance that if one falls through you still have a chance at another position.

So, remain focused, set clear goals and follow our motivational tips to help you land your dream role!
