Focusing on creating infrastructure as code, including networks, firewalls and compute. You will be heavily invested in API's, Code, Scaling, Performance, Stability and reliability.

You will be an excellent communicator who is excited by technology, with an ability to communicate technical information to non-experts. You will be providing support in-person and via Slack to our internal customers and working closely with colleagues in other tribes. Working with the latest technologies driven by our roadmap and internal customer requirements.

How you will do it…

  • Designing and implementing projects for new automation and shared tooling
  • Developing in Ruby, Groovy and Python
  • Supporting other Operational and Delivery teams with automation and shared toolset queries and requests
  • Support and develop our IaaS automation toolset
  • Work closely with other teams, implementing changes that help improve speed and release quality
  • Responsible for reviews of platform code changes, approving or suggesting improvements to authors as appropriate
  • Be an expert on the toolset. You will be working with Chef, Ruby, Test Kitchen, Jenkins, git, VMWare, AWS, Packer, Docker and Red Hat Linux.
  • Have a deep understanding of Infrastructure components; Compute, Network, Firewall, Load Balancing.
  • Own issues from initial diagnosis through to implementation of a fix
  • Write and keep up to date documentation
  • Challenge and suggest improvements to existing systems or processes on an ongoing basis
  • Own improvements to the tools, following the software development lifecycle through test and into live
  • Develop and implement new capabilities
  • Keep up to date with the latest open source technology and best practise, and suggest areas where new tools or practise can help the business achieve its goals

How we work…

  • Prioritising our work via Jira and Kanban boards
  • Providing Stable, Reliable, Performant Infrastructure through automation
  • Constantly looking to innovate, making better use of infrastructure, improving Return on investment.
  • Embrace Failure. A team that will support you even when things don't work - it's ok to fail as long as we learn.
  • Work with colleagues cross-site (Leeds and Sheffield) as one team
  • Retrospective sessions to agree how we can improve technical delivery, operational support and team processes.

What can we offer you:

  • Empowerment to make decisions and shape the way we provide IaaS
  • A culture where you are free to experiment - if you make a convincing pitch - no-one is going to say "no"
  • Flexible working with a competitive salary and a bonus scheme where we share in the company's success as a team
  • An environment where positive disruption is encouraged, innovation is in our nature
  • Unique Tech Ninja fund to use on Conferences, Training or hardware.
