Bubble Wrap-Up: Top 5 Digital Design Jobs – March 2013

It’s Sunday morning which means it’s time for a well-deserved lie-in, bacon sandwiches and a bit of good old-fashioned Sunday morning TV – putting all that to one side for a minute, do you know what Sundays are also good for? Yep, you guessed it – searching for new jobs!
OK, we know job-hunting isn’t the most exciting of tasks for a Sunday – but think about it; are you really going to get time to do it later in the week? Hmm, I didn’t think so!
Luckily for you we’ve tried to make the process a little bit easier and quicker by compiling some of the hottest jobs from our jobs board into a handy blog post we like to call the “Bubble Wrap-Up” – clever eh?! This week the focus is all on digital design jobs. Whether you’re a pro at graphics, UX or typography, you’re sure to find something to tickle your fancy in this post.
First up this week, the charity Shelter are searching for a new Midweight Graphic Designer to play a key role in the design of a range of online and offline materials. Based in EC1, London, the successful candidate will help to produce a variety of high-quality, branded cross-platform content that’s vital to the charity’s overall communication strategy. They’ll be responsible for designing for a wide range of channels (including print, digital and motion) and will work to provide high quality and creative designs. Interested? To bag this job you’ll need exceptional graphic design skills, a creative flair and expert knowledge of typography. You’ll also need to know things like Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator and Fireworks inside out and you’ll need to have a good understanding of website usability issues. If you like the sound of this vacancy you’ll have to be quick – it expires on Wednesday 6th March!
Next up, MOO are on the look-out for a new Head of Graphic Design to join their head offices in London. 2013 is set to be another big year for this award-winning online print business so it’s important they employ the right candidates – before we go any further, take a look at the MOO website then ask yourself if this is the kind of design you love and if your portfolio would impress the guys at MOO. If the answer is yes, we’ll tell you more! Working to create and deliver design work across a variety of media, you’ll help to review incoming briefs to ensure all briefs are correctly assigned based of individual skills and you’ll help to deliver regular, concise and considered project updates for team members and key stakeholders. You’ll have a hands-on role with offline graphic design work and you’ll oversee all design projects from concept to completion. To impress MOO you’ll need to have a thorough knowledge of design and layout principles, demonstrated in-depth commercial knowledge in Photoshop and Illustrator and have a diploma or degree in Visual Arts, Graphic Design or related disciplines.
In third place this week, Recruitmentology are recruiting for a Designer to join an award-winning digital agency based in London. The client in question create award-winning and compelling digital experiences and work hard to deliver innovative campaigns for some of the world’s biggest brands. As their newest Designer, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring their design work is stunning and will get the opportunity to be involved in all kinds of projects. They’ll also be mentored and supported by a Creative Director to develop and grow as a Designer – needless to say this is a great opportunity. In order to catch this agency’s eye you’ll need have bags of talent, a real passion for digital media and real ambition. Experience-wise you’ll need an outstanding portfolio of digital design work, excellent skills in Photoshop and Illustrator and experience working with style guidelines and creating user journeys.
Next in line, Bupa Health and Wellbeing are searching for a Digital User Experience (UX) & Design Manager to join their offices in either Salford Quays or Staines. The successful candidate will be responsible for scoping, developing and designing optimised and entirely new user experience across all digital channels. They’ll also work to create IA documentation to support new design concepts and they’ll work on the entire design production lifecycle, focusing on IA, UI design and content. Key duties include collaborating with Digital Commercial Managers to develop prototypes (internally wherever possible), commissioning and/or executing usability research and testing, competitor analysis and personal development – plus, managing, motivating and directing the Digital Copy Writer and Digital Visual Designer is also part and parcel of this role.
Last but not least, Step Ahead Recruitment are searching for a Creative Director to join a leading global PR agency. Based in Central London, the successful candidate will work across the agency and with colleagues to ensure that campaigns deliver very real results as well as “that something extra”. Working with a range of exceptional clients (a mix of blue chips, household names and must-have brands), they’ll get free reign to push the creativity and innovation of communications without being held back by the need to focus on running client accounts. The ideal candidate for this vacancy will be an “ideas” person with a successful track record in an agency environment (preferably PR, however candidates with creative, digital, marketing and advertising backgrounds will also be considered). They’ll thrive on making campaigns come to life and will be a natural creative that’s already well known for coming up with ground-breaking ideas.
