The #merseybiz has been quite useful for a number of people I know/know of. I think for smaller businesses the local hours can be a fantastic way to get to know your area, meet new followers, friends, suppliers, customers and even competitiors.

Personally, anything bigger than a regional one just seems to move at too fast a pace to get real debate flowing for all involved rather than just a rolling newsfeed of hard sell.

I think everyone thinks Google+ is an empty arena because Facebook is so prevalent. It’s not. And it’s important to get on track with Google+ now rather than later.

And regards point 4 – I think that’s really interesting; I’ve never really heard of an employer pushing for a wage figure at the first interview. I think in a case like this, it’s OK to discuss it – providing they brought it up first!

My friend once interviewed a man who asked if he could light a cigarette – he didn’t get the job.

With regards to No. 4, I’ve had interviews where they push me for how much wages I want. I told them that I’m more interested in the role than the money and would rather discuss wages at a later date, but they still pushed me for a number.

That’s a really interesting point Andres. I think that that can definitely be the case but I think 9 times out of 10, employers are very sure on who they’re looking for and what the role is and try and make this quite clear in the job ad.
