SOS: How To Tackle The Boxing Day Online Sales
By Amy @BubbleJobs
It’s Christmas Eve which means the big day is only a few hours away – woo hoo! Now, I’m not wanting to wish it away but I, like many of you, have already started to think about the epic event that is the Boxing Day sales.
What’s that? You’ve not even thought about them?! Oh, come on, it’s Christmas, no fibbing allowed! So you haven’t already started to think about whether that pair of boots you’ve been eyeing up for the last two months will be in the Boxing Day sales or if you’ll actually be able to afford a new Kindle Fire HD once this Christmas malarkey is all done and dusted?! Hmm, thought so!
With the Boxing Day sales set to be an all-out extravaganza (and yes, I can use that word because it’s Christmas!) this year, millions of us are planning to stay indoors and tackle the high street scrum from the comfort of our own sofa. Now, while online shopping is undoubtedly easier and less stressful than braving the great outdoors, a staggering 126 million visits to UK online retail stores are expected on Wednesday so I’m sorry to say it’s not going to be completely stress-free!
Still intent on beating the virtual competition for that amazing bag, tablet or watch? Here are a few top tips to help you survive the ordeal that will be online Boxing Day sale shopping 2012.
First up; Research! It’s no good guessing when each store is going to have their sale. Do a bit of digging to find out exactly what time each online sale is going to kick off and when and get prepared – remember, the early bird catches the worm! The earlier you hit the sale, the more choice you’ll have so it might be worth surrendering your precious Boxing Day lie-in in favour of bagging a bargain!
Next, Bookmark! If you’ve got your eye on a few key pieces (which, let’s face it, who hasn’t?!), be sure to bookmark each product page so you can quickly find it once the sale hits. This way you should be able to quickly navigate your chosen online sales, bagging the right item in the right size or style before anyone else even knows what’s going on!
Next up, if you want to tackle a few online sales at the same time; Call In Reinforcements. Friends, partner, mum, dad – it doesn’t matter who, you just need an extra pair of hands to tackle the online sale for you. Word of warning – make sure the people you choose are fairly computer literate, know exactly what you want and in what size and style. The more you educate them, the less chance they’ll make a mistake!
Last but not least, when you’re tackling the online sales; Don’t Get Distracted! With so many great things on offer it can be easy to get distracted and go off on a tangent but be careful; dilly-dally too much and you could lose the contents of your shopping bag! Remember, on most online stores your items are only saved in your shopping bag for 60 minutes – go over that limit and your items will be put back on sale ready for someone else to bag! Why not go online, buy the stuff you really want then go back and browse? This way you won’t risk the stuff you actually want – and you might be able to find a couple of additional bargains too!
