Song Writing…..You Cannot Be Serious!
by Rubberneck @BubbleJobs
Just passing
So University applications are down 9%. So what; places are still overprescribed, so the poor Unis won’t run out of money.
It’s a reality check for all of us though. The youth of today (that apparently is you by the way) have decided that it is actually not worth bothering to go to Uni to build up a debt— well it’s not so much the debt, students always have those—it’s the fact that students believe jobs won’t be there when they come out. Or is it also that there are just so many courses where you know it will be nigh on impossible to get a job afterwards anyway—what about ‘ song writing ‘ for G**s sake !
But fear not…the ‘youth’ of today are on the march and they have not only discovered that there are jobs out there (Bubble’s full of them), but that they are free to roam to get them.
Nearly half of the jobs on Bubble today are outside the UK. If you have the talent, experience or the necessary qualifications, the world really is your oyster!
Problem is of course the 17 countries in the Eurozone are in a pretty bad state, to coin a phrase. For 15 -24 year olds, unemployment is 51.4% in Spain, 46.6% in Greece, and very high in Slovakia, Italy and Ireland. The UK figure is a mere 22.3%. So avoid the PIGS and the piglets; and as for the BRICS, well they are a bit far away aren’t they? Having said that lots of young Portuguese are off to fast growing Brazil…there are jobs there and they speak the lingo…mind you have you tried to understand Portuguese? For me it’s a cross between Serb-Croat and Spanish! Check out those job vacancies elsewhere in Europe on Bubble. There’s Java jobs, SEO jobs, online marketing jobs the, the list goes on…go on have a look for yourself.
But what of the PNFSDBGN?, (made that up myself, got quite a ring to it!) I mean the Pretty Near Friendly States Doing Best to Grow Normally e.g. Poland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany. Most of them speak the Queen’s English, so there must be opportunities there. (I myself cannot look a rare, non English speaking, Swede in the eye, I am always looking down for the sub-titles.)
Let’s start facing the other way perhaps, let’s get the sun on our backs and face the northern lights! Unfortunately, there are too few jobs and too many applicants for jobs in the Eurozone now, well except in our sector, but outside of it… there are lots.
A lot of it depends on your own talents and crucially how much you want that job. Whether in Germany, Australia, Leicester. The beauty of our job sector, (that’s web jobs, digital jobs e-commerce jobs and social media jobs in case you weren’t sure why you were here) is that it is actually transient in nature. You can be mobile without even moving, and in a few years time, Scotty will actually be beamed up elsewhere at the press of a button…thinking about it, he’s virtually there now, isn’t he?
You are the ‘Can Do’ generation. Nothing is stopping you if you have the drive, ambition and talent…not much to ask! Believe in yourself and make it happen wherever in the world/ And the best bit? …You might not have to leave your Fatboy to do it!!
Moving on.
Rubberneck.
